Today was a phenomenal day. Neil and Pete stayed over to join us for another day. Rob, Lee and Roger also joined the crew, making us 8 for the day. We had the option of taking a direct route north but instead we took a detour through the Lakes. The morning was a great ride through the fields around Lancaster. We lunched in Windermere before taking on the Kirkstone Pass – a significant climb to the highest pub in Britain. Although very challenging we all made it up and the views were immense. The descent was simply exhilarating and Martyn took a fabulous film of his trip from the top – including a superb overtake of a unsuspecting driver
We had two great milestones – we passed 500 miles and “Hit the Hump” – we passed halfway!
Here are the stats
81 miles
4,400 feet
5 hours 45 minutes in the saddle
And some pics of the day
